The Mother of all (‘A’)

The-Mother-of-All-96dpi-sm

This is the first letter of the sanskrit alphabet,’A’. It is the first syllable of the Veda–all subsequent sounds come from that unbounded sound where the mouth and throat are wide open. ‘A’ is infinity, wholeness. When we are born into this world our first utterance is ‘A-a-a-a’ and probably the last sound we make before letting the mortal coil drop is again ‘A-a-a-a’ (Ah, yes!) From infinity back to infinity…

Acrylic on wood, about 40cms wide.
